Chennai 6 Aug : The right-arm pace bowler of India Deepak Chahar has attributed his development in his career in cricket thanks to the former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s suggestions, claiming that the wicketkeeper-battler of his time has instilled lots of confidence in him which resulted in good performances.Chahar who was unable to play in the IPL 2022 season due to a hamstring injury , and is now ready for an India return in the event that the Asia Cup squad is announced on August 8th stated: “Mahi bhai has given me lots of tips. The most important thing is to be confident in myself. When I first joined CSK the level of confidence he gave me was evident in my performances. He’s the captain of the top team.If he believes in you, then you need to believe in yourself.
The confidence I gained when I played for CSK was huge. This changed my career. The faith and trust Mahi Bhai gave me was the greatest.”
The 29-year-old Chennai Super Kings all-rounder, who is training at the CSK academy following his recuperation, said that his climb up the ranks was not easy but he continued to work hard “day and night” to achieve his goal.
“The graph will fluctuate between upwards and downwards.I personally was down for a long time, but I still worked hard every day and at night.I’ve always believed that there’s no other option than working hard.If you put in the effort your day will arrive, and you’ll perform well. You’ll be rewarded for what you deserve,” added Chahar.
“When you are a child it is crucial for you to envision yourself as a professional cricketer. There are posters of the walls. You’ll see your face in the pictures and that should inspire you to strive for excellence every single day.You should be able to see yourself in those pictures.
“My advice to any young bowler is to put in the effort. There is no other way.Work hard is the only way to succeed.Sometimes you’ll be chosen, and sometimes you don’t.Sometimes, they (other players) are more skilled than you.It is only possible to overcome them through working hard.Nobody can help you.Parents or coaches and absolutely nothing. When you step into the field only you are able to assist yourself.
We all have a dream of being Indian cricketers.
“You don’t want to play for the state. If you’re not considering playing for India it is not a good idea to take up cricket. If you’re looking to play with the Indian team it will take a lot of years. You won’t be able to be a part of India in the span of two or four years.” Chahar added.Chahar.
When he was asked about his favorite moment with CSK the pace bowler stated that playing with Dhoni in the first match and then winning the trophy the following year was one of his most memorable moments.
“Playing the first game for CSK is one of my all-time favourites absolutely.I was playing in the yellow field under Mahi bhai.My first over, I bowled well.I remember it.Then getting the IPL trophy in my debut season was definitely one of the most memorable moments of my life as well.”
On his batting, and on his never-beaten 69-run win against Sri Lanka in an ODI in 2021, Chahar said, “When I first started playing cricket I had always wanted to be an all-rounder.I wanted to improve my batting, as well as I did my bowling. It was an issue of chance that I was waiting for. Finally, I won the opportunity to play that match. When I was batting the first thing I thought of was to help India win.In the first 20 balls I didn’t score any runs, just 2 or 1 runs.
“We played the overs.
I believed we needed to play all the overs in order to beat the opposition. My thought was to do was take off certain bowlers.
My main goal was winning the game as that was my goal.Every child wants to play that type of game.”
