Delhi Police release all Congress MPs following an hour of detention

New Delhi, Aug 5 : Delhi Police have released all Congress Parliamentarians arrested earlier on Friday, during Congress protests in Delhi, the capital of the nation.
The Congress MPs were released after they were detained for more than six hours demonstrating peacefully and democratically to protest against the rise in prices in the economy, joblessness and GST the Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh told reporters.

As as many as 65 Congress lawmakers including Rahul Gandhi were detained in Vijay Chowk, close to the Parliament.

The Congress had announced a nationwide protest Friday to protest against the policies of the Central government, which has allegedly resulted in an increase in rates of unemployment as well as inflation in the country.

In black The MPs, who were under the direction of Rahul Gandhi attempted to organize an unintentional march from the Parliament House to the Rashtrapati Bhawan.But, as they marched forward the police stopped them at mid-way between Vijay Chowk.

The police attempted to persuade Rahul Gandhi for a short time but when he did not stop, they arrested the man and took him to an auto to the Kingsway police camp.

Speaking to media representatives prior to being arrested, Rahul Gandhi accused the Delhi Police of manhandling the Parliamentarians.

“We are here to discuss the issue of unemployment and price increases.We wanted to move forward , but the police refused to allow us to,” he said.

In response to questions about MPs being ‘handled in a way Rahul Gandhi replied “That is perfectly fine.I’m content to be handled.Our task is to fight these forces.Our task is to ensure that Indian democracy is protected.our task is to bring up concerns of the people such as unemployment and price hikes and we’re doing that.”
