The number of cases of swine flu is increase in Gujarat

Ahmedabad 5 Aug, Ahmedabad : In conjunction with corona cases, instances of swine influenza are also rising in Gujarat.The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has reported 30 cases of swine flu in the last month with the most amount of instances in the city in July.

Cases of mosquito and water-borne disease are also increasing in Ahmedabad.In July, there were 98 instances of simple malaria, two instances of toxic malaria 43 cases of dengue and 12 cases of Chikungunya, 916 instances of vomiting and diarrhoea were reported.245 instances of jaundice, and 258 cases of typhoid cases were reported.

The AMC has increased daily sample collection because of the growing instances of corona.As of now, around 2500 samples are collected in each day.Out of 2500 samples, 9 percent of the cases are positive, and the highest proportion of jaundice and typhoid cases have been reported in Vatwa, Lambha and Saraspur areas.

In the past four days, three patients with swine influenza were admitted to the hospital for civil patients in Ahmedabad.

While the cases of swine influenza are on the rise the private laboratories are charging between Rs 4500 to 5000 for an examination.

The cost of the swine flu test in an private lab was around Rs 7,000 in 2017.

The lab’s managers have claimed that it is coming down.The cost of testing for swine influenza in different private laboratories in Ahmedabad ranges from Rs 3,800 and about Rs 5,000.

The costs for testing for swine flu are expensive due to the expensive test kits as well as the extremely low amount of tests to test against it.Beyond that the swine influenza test by itself is not enough and a positive test must be conducted.If the government lowers the cost of the test kit, the cost of the test could be reduced.

Three patients have died due to swine-flu in Surat city.

At present, the number of cases of swine flu is higher than 37.
