Hyderabad 5 August : Hyderabad, Aug 5 : Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) on Friday decided to back Margaret Alva, the combined candidate of opposition parties for the post of Vice President of India.TRS president as well as Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao took the decision to endorse Alva.
TRS Parliamentary party leader K.Keshava Rao said that all 16 members of TRS will support the candidate of the opposition.
The vice-presidential race is scheduled to take place on August 6 , and the results are expected to be announced that next day.
Alva Alves, an ex- Congress leader , and former governor of Rajasthan is in a fight in an open battle with Jagdeep Dhankhar who is the presidential candidate of the BJP-led NDA.
TRS also backed Yashwant Sinha, the joint candidate of the opposition parties in the presidential elections that took place last month.
Sinha was defeated by the NDA’s Droupadi Murmu.
