MHA extends FCRA registration for NGOs until March 31

New Delhi, December 31, : Friday’s extension by the Ministry of Home Affairs to February 31 for Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) registration of non-governmental organizations was approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The Ministry’s Foreign Division issued a notice stating that, in continuation of its September 30th, 2021 Public Notice regarding the extension of FCRA registration validity, the Central government decided to extend FCRA registration certificate validity up until March 31st 2022, or the date of disposal, whichever comes first, and “in regard to only certain entities”.

According to the FCRA rules, FCRA registration certificates for such entities must expire between September 29, 2020 and February 31, 2022.Such entities should apply or request renewal via the FCRA portal prior to expiration of their certificate of registration.

According to the Ministry, all FCRA-registered associations should be aware that in the event of refusal to renew their certificate of registration, it shall be considered that the validity of that certificate has expired.The association will not be eligible to either receive or use the foreign contributions received.

The Ministry extended the validity of FCRA registration certificates for such NGOs on September 29 and requested renewal.
