Gandhinagar : , Dec 30, 2013 – Rushikesh Patel, Gujarat Health Minister said Thursday that 35 lakh people aged 15-18 were eligible for Covid-19 vaccinations in a massive drive starting January 3-9.These vaccines will be administered by health professionals at schools or other locations.
Gujarat will set up schools camps to administer the vaccines to 15-18-year-olds.Registration for vaccines online will begin on January 1.
For vaccination against Covid-19, approximately 35 lakh children were identified between the ages of 15 and 18.Patel stated that these children would be given Covaxin doses.
The health minister said that students who do not attend school on January 8-9 will receive vaccines.Online registration via Cowin portal will begin on the 1st and 3rd of January.
The precautionary dose will also be given to health professionals, frontline workers, and people over 60 starting January 10.He said that anyone over 60 years old and those with co-morbidities may receive the vaccination as directed by their doctor.They will not need to present any medical certificates.
“We have performed over 18 lakh tests, including Rapid Antigen (RT-PCR) tests.Patel said that the positivity ratio was 0.79 percent.
Minister also stated that the current Standard Operating Protocols, guideline, restrictions, and relaxations which had been in effect until December 31, have been extended to January 7.
