Kanpur, UP, Dec 28, : , Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Kanpur Metro Rail Project when he boarded a metro train at IIT Kanpur and became the first passenger.Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister of UP and Yogi Adityanath, UP Chief Minister were with him.
Kanpur Metro Rail Project consists of two corridors with a length totaling 32.5km.
It is 22 km long from IIT Kanpur to Naubasta, while it is 23 km long from Chandrashekar Azad Agriculture University in Barra-8.
Daily metro services are available between 6 a.m.and 10 p.m.Starting Wednesday
Tickets with QR codes will initially be possible.Later, smart cards for commuters will be made available.
Kanpur Metro with 3 coaches will operate on the Priority Section, IIT Kanpur to Motijheel.
It has received the ISO-14001 and ISO-45001 certificates for environmental management, respectively.
This entire stretch was designed in compliance with green building codes.
It is therefore safe for the surrounding environment.
The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) has certified all nine stations in the Priority Corridor with a platinum rating.
Yogi Adityanath inaugurated Kanpur Metro’s civil construction works on November 15, 2019.
On November 10, 2011, a trial of the metro was conducted.
