Seoul, December 27, 2012 : .The Unification Ministry of South Korea on Monday called for North Korea to begin the New Year with an effort to dialogue and cooperate.
Pyongyang will be holding a crucial party meeting to address domestic policy and international issues this week.According to Yonhap News Agency, North Korea had earlier said that the Workers Party would hold a plenary meeting in December of its central committee.
This will be “discussing and deciding on work plans for next year”.
According to Lee Jong-joo, spokesperson for the Unification Ministry, “The plenary is usually held for one or four days with leader Kim Jong-un attending,” he told reporters.
She said that the Seoul government was keeping an eye on any messages regarding inter-Korean relations and nuclear negotiations.
Lee stated that he hoped North Korea would open the doors for dialogue with international communities and make a move for cooperation and engagement in the New Year.
These remarks were made as nuclear negotiations between North Korea, the US and other countries remain deadlocked since the fall of the 2019 Hanoi summit.
Pyongyang refused to listen to Washington’s offers of talks.
It demanded that Washington first retract its “double standards” as well as “hostile policies” against the regime.
