Centurion 26 Dec : .India won the Boxing Day Test here at the SuperSport Park on Sunday with a magnificent century by KL Rahul.
India is 272/3 at stumps in 90 overs.Rahul (batting 122) & Ajinkya Rahane (44) are the two batsmen on an extremely touristic day.The final session began with Captain Virat Kohli kicking Keshav Maharaj around the square leg.Kagiso Rabada was a little troubled, but Kohli came forward to unfurl his cover drive.Rahul was also troubled by Rabada, but he managed to take care of a drive with extra coverage.Rahul went on to smash Maharaj with a pulled four through the middle-wicket.
He then danced down the pitch to score a six-over long-on to enter the 90s.
Lungi Ngidi bowled 7 consecutive dots balls to Kohli.On the 8th ball, Kohli chased an off-stump delivery and caught Wiaan Mulder in the first slip.
Rahane was on the right track with his second ball.He smashed a Ngidi volley through covers.Rahane started to play with boundaries.
He cut Ngidi off-side and flicked Marco Jansen through the mid-wicket.
Rahul scored his seventh Test century when he guided Maharaj through the backward point, despite Keegan Petersen’s desperate dive.
After Wasim Jaffer’s Cape Town 116 in 2007, Rahul became the second Indian opener with a Test century.
Rahul cut Jansen in half after reaching 100.Rahane on the other side leaned in to a drive from Jansen, and then nailed it along the ground pull with a bouncer by Rabada through the backward leg.
