New Delhi, 26 December : .The BJP formed a committee of four members to create outreach programs to win Brahmins in preparation for next year’s Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.A BJP insider claimed that “Former Union Minister Mahesh Sharma, Shiv Pratap Shukla and Party leader Ram Bhai Mokariya are members of the committee for deciding outreach programs to woo Brahmins.”
A senior leader of the party said the Committee was formed at a meeting that took place at Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister.
According to reports, the outreach programs in every 403 state assembly constituency will be led by the Brahmin leaders from BJP.
Pradhan (election in-charge of Uttar Pradesh) and top Brahmin leaders from the party discussed strategies to win the support of this community ahead the next elections.Speculations have been swirling that the Uttar Pradesh Brahmin community is dissatisfied with the government of the BJP.
According to sources, the meeting discussed the fact that while the Brahmins do not feel unsatisfied with the BJP or its government, there might be some resentment at the local level because of administrative issues.Sources said that party leaders should meet with the community to address any anger.
Ministers from UP, MPs and MLAs attended the meeting at Pradhan’s residence.It lasted approximately three hours.
Brahmins make up over 10% of Uttar Pradesh’s total electorate and are crucial to BJP’s success in 2022.
According to sources, Dinesh Sharma (UP Deputy Chief Minister), Shrikant Sharma (Minister in State Government), Harish Dwivedi (MP) and other people attended the meeting.Sunil Bansal, general secretary of Uttar Pradesh BJP (organisation), was also at the meeting.
BJP Brahmin leaders were asked to create a plan for community outreach to calm them down and inform them about the government’s welfare programs that have benefited their community.The BJP organized a ‘prabuddh varg sammelan” across the state in September to reach the community.
One section of the saffron party believes that Yogi Adityanath’s government is disregarding the community.Another section of the party believes that the majority is in support of the party, and that the opposition is a creation.
