Bengaluru, Dec 16 : Indian Air Force (IAF) military officials on Thursday paid tributes to Group Captain Varun Singh at Yelahanka Air Base in Bengaluru.Later, his mortal remains were flown to his home town Bhopal.
According to family sources, the mortal remains will reach Bhopal by 3 p.m.and his final rites will be conducted on Friday.Varun, succumbed to injuries on Wednesday (Dec 15) at army command hospital in Bengaluru.
He was the lone survivor in the helicopter crash in which Chief of Defence Staff General (CDS) Bipin Rawat and 12 others died.Varun Singh was kept on life support and his condition was critical.
He was flown to HAL airport in Bengaluru from Military hospital at Wellington of Nilgiris district in Tamil Nadu last Thursday.The Indian Air Force (IAF) on twitter stated, “IAF is deeply saddened to inform the passing away of brave heart Group Captain Varun Singh, who succumbed to injuries sustained in the helicopter accident on Dec 8, 2021.IAF offers sincere condolences and stands firmly with the bereaved family.”mka/skp/
Mortal remains of Group Captain Varun Singh airlifted to Bhopal
Family sources say that the remains of the deceased will arrive in Bhopal at 3:00 p.m., and will then be taken to Bhopal for his last rites on Friday.Varun died on Wednesday, December 15, from injuries sustained at the army command hospital in Bengaluru.He was the sole survivor of the helicopter accident in which the Chief of Defence Staff General (CDS), Bipin Rawat, and twelve others were killed.
Varun Singh was placed on life support.His condition was critically serious.
From the Military hospital in Wellington, Tamil Nadu’s Nilgiris District in Tamil Nadu, he was transferred to HAL Airport in Bengaluru.
Indian Air Force (IAF), on Twitter, stated that it was deeply sorry to announce the death of Group Captain Varun Sing, a brave man who died from injuries suffered in the helicopter crash on December 8, 2021.
