New Delhi, December 14, 2014 : .The Samyukt Kisan Morcha took note of Tuesday’s SIT report on the massacre at Lakhimpur Kheri and reaffirmed its stand that protesting farmers had pre-planned the attack.SIT indicted 13 people in this case including Ashish Mishra, the son of Ajay Mishra, Union Minister of State, Home Affairs.Eight people were killed, four of them farmers protesting the killings, when an SUV belonging to Ashish Misra drove into their vehicle and mowed them on Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh.
In the violence that followed, one local journalist was killed.
Ajay Mishra Tani, the chief perpetrator of the incident continues to be free and maintain his place in the Union Government.
SKM has released a statement stating that, in light of these latest revelations, it demands Modi stop shielding Ajay Mishra Teni as the ‘conspirator to the Kisan massacre at Lakhimpur Kheri”.
The protestors were at Lakhimpur Kheri and elsewhere in India demanding the withdrawal of three farm laws.
The SKM reiterated its demands for the dismissal of Mishra and his arrest.It stated that it will continue to fight this issue.”Indian farmers will not forget the massacre until we get justice for those who were hurt.”
In its submission to the magistrate, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has affirmed that: “So far, it has been proved from the analysis and collected evidence that the accused did not commit the criminal act out of negligence and disregard, but intentionally, with the motive of killing the farmers according to a pre-planned strategy, due to which five people have died.”
