New Delhi, December 14, 2018 : .The All-India Chess Federation announced Tuesday that the Indian Chess League, which boasts of India’s best players and the top worlds, will take place in June 2022.
This first 6-team franchise event in India will be held in two weeks, in a double-round-robin format.It will be played in either one or two Indian cities.
In the final, the top two teams from each team will be matched.President of AICF Dr.Sanjay Kapoor stated that “our dream is becoming a reality.” The Indian Chess League will change the landscape of Indian chess.We will be able to achieve our goal of being World No.He said that it would help us achieve our goal of becoming World No.1 within the next few years.”
Bharat Singh Chauhan, secretary of AICF, explained that every team would consist eight players.This includes two Super GMs and two Indian GMs and two women GMs and one girl and boy from the junior Indian community.
He stated that the idea was to draw top players from all over the globe and also provide ‘Indian’s players with a powerful platform to improve their skills.
Bharat Singh stated that the matches would be broadcast live on television to attract more players to chess.
We will soon announce the requirements for franchise owners.
He revealed that corporate has already responded positively to his request.
The AICF has been aggressively promoting the sport since a new set of office-bearers took charge last year.
It recently announced its calendar for 2022, with as many as 13 international tournaments lined up.
The prize money in the national championships, too, has been hiked, with MPL coming on board as the main sponsor.The AICF has roped in Gameplan Sports Private Limited as the official and exclusive Rights Holder to hold, organize, promote and market the Indian Chess League.
