Adelaide, December 14, 2008 : .Joe Root, England’s captain has supported Rory Burns & Jack Leach in their recovery from the series opening defeat in Brisbane.
Root stated that both players were capable of making strong comebacks in the second day’s Test at Adelaide Oval.Root said that Roy is an extremely strong character and you cannot doubt his ability to play the pink-ball test.
Root said that he would return to the table and seek a reply and put big scores on it.
Stuart Broad and James Anderson rested in Brisbane.Both pacemen were expected to be in Adelaide, but Root wouldn’t rule out Leach keeping his spot in the side.
He’ll be eager to answer and will want to make an impact in the series.The grounds we’ll be using from now onwards will offer him a lot more and add some spin to it,” said the England skipper.
Root said his batsmen should feel more comfortable against the swinging pink ball after they struggled with the bounce at the Gabba.
“One thing, as we’ve spoken about with the pink ball, it can swing a bit more and seem a bit more, which is something that we should be used to and we should know how to manage,” he said.
