Hyderabad, Nov 22, : , Two female passengers were arrested Monday by Customs officers at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad.They had been trying to smuggle currency.
Two passengers were seized by the officials with 55,000 UAE Dirhams as well as $970, which is worth Rs 11.49 Lakh.They seized the foreign currency and registered two instances of attempted smuggling.

They were flying with Air Arabia on flight G9459 to Sharjah.

Another case involved a woman passenger being smuggled with gold by Customs officers.The woman had traveled from Dubai on Indigo flight 6E025.Officials found gold in her hand luggage weighing 350g and worth Rs 17.69 lakhs.

On Sunday, customs officers booked an incident for the smuggling iPhones against a Sharjah passenger.

The 9 iPhone 13 Pros, valued at Rs 8.37 Lakh were found hidden in hand luggage.

Over the past month, there have been a number of attempts to smuggle foreign currency through the airport.

A Dubai-bound passenger was caught trying to smuggle Rs 13 lakh worth of foreign currency by Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).The man was due to leave for Dubai.

In Hyderabad Airport, this was the third attempt to smuggle foreign currency in just two weeks.All three instances saw the authorities seize Saudi currency from the passengers.

A female passenger headed for Abu Dhabi had been carrying Saudi Riyals in the amount of Rs 9.77 million when customs officers confiscated them.

A passenger was seized with Saudi Riyals in the amount of Rs 9.78 Lakh.The foreign currency was found in the luggage of the passenger as he left for Sharjah.
