Abu Dhabi, November 21st : , Skipper Liam Livingstone leads Team Abu Dhabi to win 21 runs against Northern Warriors at Zayed Cricket Stadium.Livingstone was able to score 68 runs on 23 balls Saturday.
He also scored 35 runs in the penultimate bowling over by Josh Little. This gave Livingstone a total run rate of 132/5 which was too high for the Northern Warriors.
Although I would love to claim that I felt calm heading into the final overs, I just couldn’t make it through the middle.Although I was a little rusty in the beginning, once I started to feel more confident I could keep it up throughout the tournament.”
The opening match was a failure.Paul Stirling (0 runs) and Chirs gayle (9 runs) were the heroes.
Livingstone stated that batsmen would have off days, but somebody needs to speak up.
“It’s great that the majority of batters are contributing and it will be a key factor going forward. We’re not always going to win every game, but as long someone is standing up each game we have a chance to win with this batting lineup.”
Marchant de Lange defended well with figures of 2-6 for the ball, while Danny Briggs (2for 15) and Naveen ul-Haq (2for 20) ensured that Northern Warriors fell short with 111/7 in their 10 overs.
Livingstone stated that the perfect team composition was chosen for the game’s shortest format.
He said, “The combination that we are using is perfect, and the lads getting used to bowling under different circumstances,”
“Naveen has been great bowling at the end of both games.Briggsy bowled well, and Marchant took wickets today. He’s not run for too many runs.We have a good bowling team and we still have some lads available. There is also a lot to be thankful for on the bench, which will come in handy with so many games every day.
