Panaji, November 20, : , Anurag Thakur, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting made Saturday’s pitch to India for becoming a top destination for cinema and a hub for film post-production.Thakur addressed the inaugural session of 52nd International Film Festival of India.
He also stated that India was well-positioned to be the epicenter of global cinematic culture because of its unique mix of connectivity, culture, and commerce.
The minister stated that India is a “powerhouse in content creation and regional cinema,” adding that India was striving to scale up its regional festivals.
We want India to be the global post-production center by harnessing the vast tech talent of our youth.Our goal is to make India the global cinema hub.Thakur said that India is a destination for film festivals and filmmakers, and that it has become the preferred place for movie lovers and cinephiles.”
Following a sparkling lamp-lighting ceremony, Thakur gave his speech.The event was attended by a number of dignitaries including P.S.Goa.Sreedharan and Pramod Sawant, Goa’s Chief Minister, and L.Murugan, Minister of State in Information Broadcasting, share the podium with Hema Malini (actress and Mathura MP), Prasoon Joshi (politician and southern actor), and Ravi Kottarakara, general secretary of Film Federation of India.
Karan Johar, a Bollywood producer and talk-show host and Manish Paul, a TV anchor-comedian, anchored the inaugural event.
Thakur stated in his speech: “India’s story can be a magnet for the rest of the world.This is the story of an Indian billion that’s growing, strong, and ready to take the country forward.
The film and entertainment sector has enormous employment potential as it leapfrogs into digital content filmmaking.Not to mention film preservation for future generations.
India is in the best position to capitalize on young filmmakers, according to the minister.He said that these young people were the “powerhouse of new content creation and new stories”.
Thakur stated that the media and entertainment industry is built on three distinct propositions India has to offer.A large pool of skilled labour, a growing consumption spending and a rich cultural and linguistic heritage are just some of the benefits that India offers.
This is possible only in places around the globe thanks to the vast footprint of digitalisation, mobile internet and online.
The minister answered his rhetorical question by emphatically saying: “With this unique combination in connectivity, culture, and commerce, India will be poised to become the epicenter of this cinematic ecosystem.” Indians are currently writing and defining the India story.
