He stated that the country’s 2015 judicial reforms have negatively impacted the rule of law.

The European Union and Poland are not in agreement about the changes Warsaw has made to its judiciary over the past five years. In July, the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU ) decided that the establishment of a disciplinary chamber to supervise judges was against EU law.It must therefore be suspended.A fine of one million euros (or $11.33 million per day) was imposed by the Luxembourg-based court on Poland.

Reynders stated that the only requirement for Poland to ease tensions is to abide to the CJEU’s latest rulings and to reverse any reforms that were deemed illegal by Xinhua.

However, Zbigniew Zbrobro, Poland’s Justice Minister, and Malgorzata Mówska, President of the Supreme Court, both met Reynders while he was there.

Ziobro stated that there was no law of equality without fair treatment, and that Poland had been unfairly treated in the EU’s press conference.

Manowska gave Reynders on Friday a written comment claiming that the European Commission had been biased towards Poland during its assessments.(1 euro= $1.13).
