Sehore is the district nearest to Bhopal, and is where you will find Ginnorgarh.Gond kings ruled the fort.To create the state Ginnorgarh, the Gond kings combined 750 villages.Kamalapati, the Gond king Nizam Shah’s seven wives was considered to be his most stunning.She was the last Gond tribe and Hindu queen to be born in Bhopal.
Folklore says that Nizam Shah was poisoned by Chain Singh, his cousin who wanted Rani Kamalapati to marry him.
After hiding her son Nawal Shah, 12, the queen reached out to Dost Mohammad Khan (a mercenary) and asked for his help.
Rani Kamalapati, as it is believed, offered Dost Mohammad Khan one lakh coins and requested that he kill Chain Singh.Dost Mohammad attacked Ginnorgarh and killed Chain Singh.He then captured the fort.
Dost Mohammad, however, changed his mind.
He wanted to seize the whole princely state Bhopal.Kamalapati was also interested in marrying him.
Kamalapati’s son Nawal Shah learned of his intentions and started a war against Khanat Lalghati.However, he was eventually killed.
Dost Mohammad was unable to stop Dost samadhi from marrying her.The queen took jal samadhi, or suicide, in 1723, after she had thrown all her wealth and jewellery in the palace into a tiny pond.
Although the Ginnorgarh Fort is still standing, its condition has been declining over time.This fort was destroyed over the past three centuries.
Many governments had promised that they would renovate this fort after the nation gained independence, but it never happened.
Bhupendra, a Congress leader shared a photo of the fort and suggested that it be placed in Rani Kamalapati Railway Station’s VIP Lounge.
This would allow people to see what the BJP did in 17 years in restoring the fort’s pristine glory.
