The government of Andhra Pradesh has ordered a high-level inquiry into the Mamillapally blast in the Kalasapadu zone of the Kadapa district.It has set up an inquiry committee with officials from five different departments.
A committee has been set up with officials from the Mining, Revenue, Police, Safety and Explosives departments, Mines, and Underground including Kadapa Joint Collector, said Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Minister Peddireddy Ramachandrareddy.He said that the committee would submit its report to the government within five days.
The minister mourned the death of ten workers in the blasts.He assured that the government would extend a helping hand to the families of the deceased.
The minister said that immediate compensation of Rs 10 lakh would be given to those who died and Rs 5 lakh to those injured in the accident.Peddireddy assured that the mining authorities, led by DMG, had inspected the spot and would take legal action against the owner.
As it was reported that the incident was caused due to the negligence of the quarry operators, Minister Peddireddy clarified that action would be taken against the owner as per the Small Scale Mineral Regulations Act.
