Actor Suriya, who is known for his philanthropic deeds, has now come forward to donate Rs 1.5 crore to FEFSI (Film Employees Federation of South India) workers and other film bodies, who lost their livelihood due to the coronavirus pandemic.On Ganesh Chaturthi, Suriya surprised his fans by revealing that his much-anticipated film, Soorarai Pottru, will premiere on Amazon Prime Video from October 30 onwards.
In a statement, Suriya explained the situation and promised that his next two films will release only in theatres.
He also said that an amount of Rs 5 crore, the revenue generated through the business of Soorarai Pottru, will be donated to coronavirus relief efforts.
Today (August 22), as a first step, Suriya donated Rs.1.5 crore to the film fraternity.Sivakumar, on behalf of Suriya, met FEFSI president RK Selvamani and Tamil Nadu Film Producers’ Council head Kalaipuli S Thanu at Bharathiraja Film institute and handed over the cheque.
