Bhopal : , Thursday, December 30, 2010: Four people were hurt in a fight between Congress and BJP workers.This happened when Congress’ youth wing was protesting the BJP regarding unemployment, inflation, women’s crime, and fertiliser supply to farmers among other matters.
A group of youth workers from BJP reached the spot to stop an attempted burning of the effigy Madhya Pradesh Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s head.
A large number of young Congress members gathered in Amarwada’s Singhodi to protest the ‘Putla Dahan.
The protest was also attended by Congress workers who praised Kamal Nath (the Madhya Pradesh Congress President) during the demonstration.
Kamal Nath is from Chhindwara.
Nakul Nath, his son is an MP hailing from Chhindwara.
Slogans such as “Congress party zindabad”, “BJP Shasan Murdabad”, etc.were created.
The youth wing of BJP tried to prevent the youth Congress members burning CM Chouhan’s effigy.
A heated exchange took place and the sides started pelting stones at each other.Other vehicles also suffered damage.
The police used water cannons to disperse the crowd and could also resort to using cane-charge.
The incident happened in the heat.It was immediately controlled by the police.The case has been investigated further and three FIRs were filed.”We are currently monitoring the situation, and there is peace in the area right now,” VivekAgrawal, Chhindwara’s Superintendent of Police told IANS.
The Congress youth workers sat in protest after the incident of stone-pelting and demanded action against the BJP workers.
The protest was organized with permission.Why would BJP workers attempt to stop peaceful demonstrations? They beat up Congress members badly.”It is our right protest against government,” said a young member of Congress.
