New Delhi, Sep 5 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the celebration of Teachers Day on Monday announced the establishment and upgrading of 14500 schools across India under the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM-SHRI) scheme.PM-SHRI schools will be equipped with modern, transformative and holistic method of providing education, Modi said, adding that he is confident that PM-SHRI’s schools will benefit thousands of students from across India in the spirit of the National Education Policy (NEP).
“Today on Teachers Day, I am pleased to announce an exciting new initiative that will see the creation and upgrade of 14500 schools in India in the Pradhan Mantri Schools For Rising India (PM-SHRI) Yojana.These schools will be models schools that will embody the essence of NEP,” the Prime Minister tweeted.
He said that “the PM-SHRI schools will use modern, transformative and holistic approach of teaching education.The emphasis will be placed on a discovery approach to learning, a learning-centric method of teaching.
The focus will also be on the latest infrastructural developments, including the latest technology including smart classrooms, smart classrooms and much more”.
“The National Education Policy has revolutionized the education sector in the last few years.
I am confident that PM-SHRI’s schools will benefit thousands of students in India in the spirit of NEP”, he added.
