Yoon’s approval score remains below 30% for the fourth straight week

Seoul 19 August : South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol’s approval score remained below 30 percent for the fourth week in a row in a poll that was released on Friday.
In the survey of 1,000 people carried out by Gallup Korea from Tuesday to Thursday 28 percent of them were positive about Yoon’s handling of state affairs, an increase of 3 percentage points over the previous week.However, 64 percent expressed a negative opinion down by 2 percentage points as reported by Yonhap News Agency.

Yoon’s score is the second-lowest of the scores of the other South Korean presidents logged around their 100th day in office, second only to the rating of former president Lee Myung-bak, as per the pollster.

In terms of reasons to disapprove personnel appointments were mentioned as the most, at 26 percent followed by incompetence and absence of expertise and qualifications with 11 percent.Then there was poor communication at 7 percent.

The assessment that was negative was more prevalent in other areas of policy, with the appointment of personnel being positively considered by only 16 percent of respondents and economic policy by 24 percent and social welfare at 27 percent and diplomacy by 29 percent and real property by 30 percent and North Korean policies by 34 percent.

The poll also revealed that 36 percent of respondents supported the main opposition People Power Party, while 34 percent supported the opposition’s main party, Democratic Party.
