Vizianagaram police have arrested a gang who was smuggling huge bags of cannabis between the ginger bags.While police are thoroughly checking all the vehicles at various check posts in Vizianagaram, they found a van carrying cannabis.
Police seized Rs 1.50 crore worth of cannabis from them.Speaking at a press conference, district SP B Rajkumari said that, a vehicle heading towards Visakhapatnam from Gajapatinagar was inspected by the police at Y junction this morning and 3,000 kg of cannabis was found in it.
Against this backdrop, the police arrested Satyabhan Singh, the driver of the van and interrogated him.During the interrogation, the van driver admitted that he was smuggling cannabis from Similiguda to Uttar Pradesh.
Also, he said that he brought chairs to Similiguda from Delhi and on the way back to Uttar Pradesh, as per the instructions of his owner, he was taking the bags of cannabis to Uttar Pradesh.
The SP said that Arvind Kumar of Agra and Bharat Kumar of Koraput were arrested on the information given by the driver.The SP said the two were travelling in another vehicle behind a vehicle carrying a load of cannabis.
