The British government has drastically relaxed visa requirements.The UK has announced that overseas social care workers, care assistants and home care workers, including from India, will be eligible for a 12-month health and care visa as part of a temporary measure to address labor shortages in the healthcare sector.
The United Kingdom government announced on Friday that it could hire tens of thousands of additional healthcare workers to increase its workforce in the social care sector following temporary changes to the scheme.The government decision will allow the recruitment of qualified workers to fill the vacancies in the healthcare sector.These workers work in government-backed care homes and provide care for the elderly and the disabled in their own homes.
Britain’s Home Secretary Preeti Patel has said that the care sector is facing challenges due to the Kovid epidemic.Moreover, it is gratifying to take such a decision in the light of the growing number of Omicron cases at present.She believes that this will reduce the pressure on the sector.“This is their government’s new plan on immigration.It will make it easier for health professionals to live and work in the UK,” said Patel.“This is our commitment to the health and care sector in the country, including the NHS,” she said.
The change follows a recommendation by the UK Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) to include careers and home care professionals in the Shortage Occupation List (SVOL) to enable them to apply for a Health & Care visa.
Inclusion in (SVOL) sets a minimum annual salary of 20 20,480 for those eligible for a health and care visa.The UK government has said the temporary measures announced this week will take effect next year.
Social security workers from Brexit to European Union (EU) countries will not be eligible to work in the UK.Must apply as in other countries.This has led to a shortage of workers in the country.The UK is now reaping the benefits.
