Guadalajara, Mexico, Nov 18, : , Spain’s Garbine Murguruza won the final four matches to win the match against No.8 seed Anett Kontaveit, Estonia.She also took back a set break in the second set and defeated her 6-3 7-5.This was Garbine Muguruza’s first WTA Finals Championship.Garbine won her third year-end title, the biggest in her career.It was presented to an enthusiastic crowd at Guadalajara on Wednesday night.
Garbine became the first Spaniard ever to be awarded the WTA Finals Singles Title in its history.Arantxa Sanchez Vicario, formerly World No.1, was the other Spaniard to make it to the WTA Finals singles champion match.She finished as second to Stefanie Graf 1993.
Spaniard won the first set with a strong start and fought back to win the second.
Due to Garbine’s greater ability in returning second serves, two sets were close.Anett won only 38 percent of the Spaniards’ second-service points.Muguruza took nearly 60% of points from the Estonian’s first delivery.
