Tokyo 30 August : Japanese tech giant Sony has announced that it has purchased mobile game maker Savage Game Studios without disclosing the financial conditions of the transaction.
Savage Game Studios will join a brand new PlayStation Studios Mobile Division, which will operate on its own from the console development of the company and will focus on delivering mobile-friendly experiences that are innovative and that are based on both existing and new PlayStation IP.

“Today we announced that we’ve signed a definitive agreement to purchase Savage Game Studios, a highly talented team of talented developers with numerous years of experience creating several of the most loved mobile games played by players all over the globe,” the company said in a blog post.

“We have a common goal with them: to be innovative and innovating, along with an unending effort to expand the reach of our users and introduce PlayStation to more users than it has ever been, which makes the perfect choice to be part of PlayStation Studios,” it added.

Michail Katkoff co-founder and CEO of Savage Game Studios said their vision was an environment of creativity where risk-taking and experimentation were not feared but rather enthusiastically welcomed.

“We had all worked in large studios, and while we appreciate the benefits of abundant resources but we wanted to remain small and compact so that we could make our own shots.” Katkoff said.

“We have signed this contract due to the fact that we think PlayStation Studios’ leadership respects our vision of how we can run our business and succeed, and also because they too aren’t unwilling to try new things,” he added.
