Shiprocket has raised $33.5 million, and becomes the country’s 106th unicorn

New Delhi, Aug Aug 17 : Zomato’s logistic technology platform Shiprocket on Wednesday became India’s 106th unicorn following it raised $33.5 million (about Rs 270 crore) in a funding round led by Temasek and Lightrock India.
Shiprocket was valued around $1.2 billion with the latest round of funding.

The funds will aid in helping Shiprocket expand its operating system through the development of newer software and products in conjunction with expanding its capabilities on the fulfillment and same-day delivery experience it stated in an announcement.

The Series E2 financing round also included previous investors Bertelsmann India Investments, March Capital, Moore Strategic Ventures, PayPal Ventures and Huddle.

“This investment will help us accelerate our plans and enable us to bring world-class e-commerce experiences to every retailer selling direct commerce in India,” said Saahil Goel, CEO and Co-founder of Shiprocket.

The company was launched in the year 2017 Shiprocket provides packages to more than 66 million people each year and is growing three times per year.

In the month of March, Shiprocket acquired omnichannel commerce company Arvind Internet Limited’s technology company called ‘Omuni’ , for Rs 200 crore in the form of cash and stock deal.

The partnership will draw on both companies’ technologies and resources to facilitate rapid, efficient, and hassle-free delivery from the closest warehouse or store in the larger D2C commerce enablement market Shiprocket said in a statement.Shiprocket stated in an announcement.

In June, Shiprocket acquired a majority stake in Pickrr, an ecommerce software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform for D2C brands and SME e-tailers for around $200 million (nearly Rs 1,560 crore).
