Due to the ongoing cyclone in the Bay of Bengal, heavy rains are falling in the Telugu states.It has been raining for two days in many places in Hyderabad.

The cyclone continues in the west-central Bay of Bengal.The meteorological office said it was likely to head west-northwest and cross the coast today.

It is likely to cross the coast near Kakinada between Visakhapatnam and Narsapuram.

The deep depression in the Bay of Bengal that crossed the coast close to Kakinada in East Godavari district on Tuesday morning weakened and moved further west-northwestwards but not before it left a trail of devastation as it brought with it a massive downpour in several districts of Andhra Pradesh.

The State Disaster Management Authority said the deep depression crossed the coast between 6.30 AM and 7.30 AM.Rainfall ranging from 11.5 cm to 24 cm was recorded in more than 100 places in the state, primarily in East Godavari, West Godavari, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, and Krishna districts.

A cargo vessel from Bangladesh, which lay anchored in the sea, was swept close to the Tenneti Park beach in Visakhapatnam city due to the heavy wind that accompanied the storm.

The Met Office warned that winds could reach 55-75 km per hour along the coast and fishermen should not go hunting.A strong ship was washed ashore in Visakhapatnam Thenneti Park due to strong winds along the coast.

A Bangladeshi merchant vessel has been swept away by heavy winds.The ship’s crew escaped safely.

Both of them were damaged, police discovered the problem broke the anchors, Navy officials are trying to lift out of the ship.
