Kolkata 3rd September : At twelve schoolchildren were sick at an elementary school run by the state in West Bengal’s North Dinajpur district after consuming lunch during the day.An initial examination has found that the cook mistake made a mistake and mixed detergent powder in place of salt in the food, resulting in 12 students becoming sick.
The incident happened on a Saturday afternoon, after pupils of Chilimpur Primary School in Itahar village ate khichuri (a famous dish that is made of rice and pulses) which was served as lunchtime meal.They began vomiting and were rushed to the Itahar rural hospital.
According to the most recent data available, all 12 students are safe and out of danger at present.While 11 students have been released from the hospital, one remains being monitored.
The incident caused a stir in the neighborhood, as parents and locals began to protest in the front of the school.They even shut down the gate of the school.
The development officer for the joint block of Itahar block Ankur Biswas, as well as the head of the department of the local police station Manebendra Saha, needed to get to the scene to take the situation under control.
An initial investigations found that the cook had by mistake added detergent powder in the food, instead of salt, resulting in students getting sick.
In announcing that a thorough probe was directed into the matter Biswas stated, “The cook has been removed from the kitchen.We are taking the issue seriously.Fortunately, all of the children are now free of risk.”
