As the number of corona-positive cases is increasing on a large scale, there is a severe shortage of oxygen cylinders in private hospitals. With this, many corona patients are being affected.
According to medical and health sources, the current demand is for 100 metric tonnes of oxygen per day in public and private hospitals.Out of this, about 70 percent is required in private hospitals.
But health officials are saying that there is no enough supply of oxygen cylinders in the state.
“It is true that there is a shortage of oxygen cylinders in private hospitals.
The private hospitals are looking forward to fixing the issue. In the past, we requested the hospitals to set up a liquid oxygen system.
Only one or two hospitals have set them up.Remaining hospitals are based on ordinary oxygen cylinders” said a senior state health official.
This has led to a severe shortage of oxygen in private hospitals. However, the medical and health department said that government hospitals had an adequate stock of oxygen cylinders that would be enough for a week.
The required liquid oxygen cylinders from Karnataka and Chhattisgarh states will arrive in a week or two.
Currently, the government has 45,000 injections of Remdesivir and according to the Medical sources, they would be sufficient for another 15 days as per the current demand. The Department of Medical Health has announced that 5 lakh home isolation kits are currently available.Officials are advising people to take self-care and be safe.
