Berlin 2 September : Samsung Electronics will be working to popularize its home automation system this year in the hope to aid in providing an environmentally sustainable and connected living spaces, its top executive has stated.
“For Samsung to grow together with the younger generation they should be able to provide them with a an experience that is sustainable, not to mention technological advancements,” Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Han Jong Hee said at an interview at Europe’s largest technology trade event the Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin (IFA) 2022.

“We will be working hard to create the technology of ‘calm’ through SmartThings, where users can get customized solutions without having to put in many hours,” he added.

Calm technology is the kind of technology that demands only minimal attention from the user and requires no effort according to Yonhap news agency.

SmartThings is Samsung’s software that allows you to connect and control appliances in your home, with more than 230 million users across the globe according to the company.

This year’s IFA that runs from September 2 to 6, Samsung highlighted its effort to promote its SmartThings application and maximize the synergy between appliances in the home so that living at home is more convenient and more efficient.

“Many users feel stifled when they are attempting to use various Internet of Things platforms,” Han said.”We will work to address this issue by promoting the SmartThings app.”

“SmartThings can provide more added value to customers based upon knowledge and expertise gained from connecting Samsung’s various consumer offerings”, Han said.

At the end of this year Samsung is planning to have all of its appliances for homes Wi-Fi-enabled and permit appliances from 13 brands belonging to the Home Connectivity Alliance (HCA) to be controlled and connected.
