San Francisco, Sep 10 : Gaming platform Roblox has revealed its plan to enter the metaverse with new plans to offer social gaming.The platform is aimed at top 3D artists builders, programmers, and creators of content.Being aware that advertising will naturally be present in the metaverse, just as it is in other aspects of the lives of people, Roblox plan to launch Immersive Ads next year.
“Brands as well as developers will be able to create unique ad experiences that have never been seen before on Roblox as well as portals that seamlessly transfer users back and forth between different experiences,” the company said during the Roblox Developers Conference (RDC) in San Francisco.
This will open new possibilities for developers to earn revenues and allow brands to reach out to their communities more effectively, according to the company.
Roblox is currently home to 58.5 million active users on a daily basis in more than 180 countries.
It has announced that it will create Chat on Roblox more lively, and it will function similar to how we interact in the real world.
“People who are 13 or older can now communicate with the other in voice-enabled experiences” Roblox said.
The feature is designed to simulate in-person conversations and is built on the avatars’ proximity to each one.
“It means you could whisper to a friend in the nearby area or shout to be heard across the room.Since the introduction of this feature, more than one million users have been able to use the use of voice communication,” the gaming platform disclosed.
In the coming year, users will be able to utilize their webcams to communicate with others in real-time with their avatars. “Your camera will automatically record your facial movements while you speak, meaning that your avatar can show what you’re feeling, bringing an additional layer of interaction and intimacy,” said Roblox.
In the next couple of months, Roblox will be releasing Facial Animations in the Marketplace that will allow users to make avatars that convey a broad variety of expressions that best suit your mood, and also better capture your emotions and gestures.
Cloud has also added new features to the Cloud which include Place Publishing, Data Stores and Cross-Server Messaging.
