Agartala 25 August : BJP President J.P.Nadda on Thursday appointed the party’s Tripura vice president of the unit Rajiv Bhattacharjee as President of the state committee.BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh, in a statement, announced the appointment of Bhattacharjee 52 who will succeed the Chief Minister Manik Saha.
Saha who was made the BJP’s Tripura state president in January 2020, has been in the post since his appointment as the his post of the chief minister on May 15 the day following Biplab Kumar Deb was sacked from the top job by the central government leaders, without giving any reason.
Both Saha and Deb both congratulated Bhattacharjee who has a close relationship with Deb who was the state BJP President for five years prior to Saha.
The decision was taken one day following Saha and Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma attended an important meeting in Guwahati on Wednesday with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and central BJP leaders to discuss the plan for the Tripura elections, scheduled for the beginning of next year.
