By Ashe O Washington 9th, September : The Queen Elizabeth II has the rare distinction of having met every one of fourteen US presidents in her 70-year reign, with Lyndon Johnson being the exception.Johnson was never elected president.he was succeeded by John F.Kennedy after Kennedy’s assassination.
Five of the previous US presidents that are still alive have paid tribute, issuing statements praising her presidency and her character.
Queen Elizabeth II died on Thursday at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, her summer retreat, aged 96.
In her seven-decade reign the Queen was able to meet 13 of the 14 most recent US presidents.That includes five of the former presidents who are in their lives: Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, George W.Bush, Barack Obama, and Donald Trump.
While the queen Elizabeth was still a princess in 1951, she travelled to Washington, DC for the first time to meet with President Harry Truman, and the two nations complemented each other.
“Free men everywhere look towards the US with enthusiasm and with optimism,” she told Truman.
In the aftermath of her death, former presidents have expressed condolences as well as reflected on the interactions they had with the monarch who died.
“Her dignity, grace and sense of duty are an inspiration, and we join millions of people across the globe in mourning the loss of a remarkable leader,”” Carter said in an announcement.
Clinton in a statement stated Clinton in a statement said that he along with his wife Hillary Clinton, “mourn the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and we join with people from across the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth and across the globe, in thanking her for her life of extraordinary beauty.”
Clinton stated that they “will forever be thankful for the generosity she showed us throughout the years, and especially in our trips to Buckingham Palace in 1995 and 2000, and for everything she did to strengthen our Special Relationship.”
In describing her reign of 70 years as “remarkable,” Clinton said Queen Elizabeth “led Britain through great transformations with unwavering grace dignity, respect, and genuine concern for the well-being of everyone in the country.”
“In the midst of storms or sunshine, she was a source of peace, stability and strength” he added.
Bush Bush said he and his former first lady Laura Bush regarded the queen as a woman of “great intelligence charm, wit, and intelligence.”
In an announcement, Bush said she “ably led England through dark times with her faith in her countrymen and with her optimism for a brighter future.”
“Spending time at Buckingham Palace, and having tea with Her Majesty as well as her Corgis -is among our most fond memories of the presidency,” Bush said.
Barack Obama said that he and the former first lady Michelle Obama were “lucky enough to have met Her Majesty and she greatly meant a lot for us.”
“Back as we began to learn about our roles as First Lady and President, she welcomed us to the world stage with welcoming arms and an extraordinary generosity.
“Time and time again we were struck by her warm personality, her ease, the way she made people feel comfortable and the way she brought her humor and charm to times of extraordinary pomp and circumstance.” Obama added.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said he and former first lady Melania Trump “will always be grateful for our time with Queen Elizabeth II.” “What an incredible and gorgeous lady she was — there was no one as beautiful or elegant as her!” Trump wrote, as reported by the Business Insider.
