Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched the central government’s prestigious Aayushman Bharat Digital Mission via video conference.On August 15 2020, the Prime Minister announced from the Red Fort that the program would be launched under the name ‘Prime Minister’s Digital Health Mission’ to provide quality medical services to people across the country.
The program will be piloted in six Union Territories, Andaman and Nicobar, Chandigarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman-Diu, Ladakh, Lakshadweep and Puducherry territories.
Earlier, Union Health Minister Manshukh Mandavia said that this program would bring about revolutionary changes in the health sector.
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said in a statement that the launch of the Aayushman Bharat Digital Mission across the country on the third anniversary of the Aayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (ABPM-JAY) was significant.
A health ID will be provided to all citizens of the country under the Prime Minister’s Digital Health Mission program.
It can also be used as a health account.Everyone citizen’s health information is embedded in it.
Whenever a patient goes to any hospital and registers their Health ID, the patient’s complete health information is automatically displayed to the doctors.This saves poor patients from getting tested again and again.
