The war of words between BJP and TRS leaders continues on this.The Telangana High Court has recently issued key directions on paddy procurement.
The PIL was filed in the High Court by a Law student Bommanagiri Sreekar asking the Telangana state government to procure paddy.The petitioner contended that the farmers were suffering severely due to the non-purchase of grain by the government.
He asked the Telangana High court to give directions to the government to procure grain.With this, the high court questioned the petitioner under which law it should ask the state govt to procure paddy.
Advocate General BS Prasad told the high court that they were already procuring paddy across the state.The petition seeks to ensure that the minimum support price announced by the Center is available to farmers.
The petitioner wanted the government to take steps to prevent grain looting.
The AG told the court that the state govt would continue to buy grain until the end of January.
The High Court directed that all efforts be made to procure the grain in the state.The High Court directed the government to file the counterclaim by the 3rd week of January.
