Here is a bad news for all music lovers.Top musician Mandolin U.Shrinivas (45) passed away at 9 a.m.at a private hospital in chennai on Friday following a failed liver transplant.Srinivas had undergone a liver transplant and was recovering when complications arose on the evening of September 18th.
He died on September 19 2014, due to liver failure at Apollo Hospital, Chennai
He was the recipient of prestigious awards such as the Padma Shri and the Sangeet Natak Akademi award.Hailing from Palakol in Andhra Pradesh, Uppalapu Shrinivas, born on February 28, 1969, showed an uncanny interest in his father Sathyanarayana’s mandolin at a very young age
The legendary musician picked up his father’s mandolin at the age o f six and gave his first musical performance at nine.
He rendered performances with Western artist like Michael Brook, John McLaughlin, Nigel Kennedy, Trey Gunn, Michael Nyman and others.
Mr Srinivas also performed with Hindustani classical musicians like Hariprasad Chaurasia and Zakir Hussain.
He was a follower and devotee of Sri Sathya Sai Baba and he had performed before him on several occasions
His brother U Rajesh is also an accomplished mandolin player.Srinivas married U.Sree, daughter of an IAS officer in 1994.They have a son.The couple divorced in 2012
