Mammootty’s latest movie, Christopher, failed to impress the audience at the box office. The movie only earned less than Rs 5 crores on its opening weekend, which led fans to criticize the star’s script selection for commercial films.
Most of the Indian superstars are not giving enough importance to writing, which is the primary reason for their movies’ failure. The success of any movie primarily depends on its script.Mammootty’s fans were disappointed with Christopher after the actor received great appreciation for his previous film, Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam.
Christopher is a Malayalam action thriller film where Mammootty played the role of an honest police officer in Ernakulam, Kerala. He was popularly known as an “Encounter Specialist,” but his colleagues labeled him an “angry cop who takes the law into his own hands.” The movie also features Amala Paul, Sneha, Vinay, Sarath Kumar, and other well-known actors.
The first half of the film moves at a fast pace, but the second half drags on with a predictable screenplay, making the audience impatiently wait for the climax. The film raises awareness against violence against women, but its poor screenplay disappointed fans.
The story revolves around Sitaram Thirumurthy (Vinay), a wealthy businessman, who murders his wife for working against him.Thirumurthy also kills Christopher’s adopted daughter, Amina (Aishwarya Lekshmi), who is involved in the case.Amala Paul comes in as the investigating officer. The climax answers whether Christopher managed to take revenge against Thirumurthy and whether Amina’s death was justified.
Overall, Christopher is a decent action thriller movie that could have been even better if it had more twists and suspense.Although the film speaks out against violence against women, its poor screenplay spoiled the overall experience.
