Manila, December 13, 2013 : .On Monday, a magnitude of 5.5 earthquake struck Occidental Mindoro Province, according to the Philippines Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.According to Xinhua, the quake struck on May 12, at 5:12 p.m.(local time), at a depth of 104 kilometres.It was located about 23 kilometres northeast from Paluan.
It was felt also in Metro Manila and Batangas, as well Zambales, on the main Luzon Island.
The institute said the quake, which was tectonic in origin, is expected to trigger aftershocks but not cause damage.
The Philippines sees frequent seismic activity due to its location along the Pacific “Ring of Fire”.
