Kajol Advocates for Normalizing Female Pleasure in Lust Stories 2

Kajol, a renowned Bollywood actress, is set to appear in Lust Stories 2, a Netflix anthology.

During the films promotions, she emphasized the importance of normalizing the concept of female pleasure, just as society has normalized eating and drinking.

Kajol stars in one of the segments of Lust Stories 2, directed by Amit R.Sharma, known for his work in the film Badhaai Ho.The segment features actor Kumud Mishra as her husband.Kajol openly admitted that she has struggled with portraying lust on screen.

In a recent interview with Filmfare, Kajol discussed the need to normalize the portrayal of female pleasure on screen.She expressed that society was once more open about this topic, as evident in ancient texts and education.

However, over time, discussions around it became taboo.Kajol believes that it is a normal part of life that cannot be ignored.

She emphasized the importance of bringing it back into conversations and treating it as we do with eating and drinking.Avoiding discussions about it only brings more attention and focus to the subject.

During the same interview, Kajol also shared her thoughts on the evolution of lust in cinema.She noted that earlier, lust was depicted simply by two flowers coming together, followed by the woman becoming pregnant.

Today, films like Lust Stories 2 represent a step forward, exploring a more nuanced portrayal of desire.Kajol believes that cinema reflects society and its changing perceptions of love.

While eternal love stories may not be as prevalent, modern films focus on friendships, contemporary relationships, and societal dynamics.Lust Stories 2 is a four-part anthology, serving as a sequel to Netflix Indias Emmy-nominated series, Lust Stories (2018).

Produced by Ronnie Screwvalas RSVP Films and Ashi Duas Flying Unicorn Entertainment, the anthology features a star-studded cast including Tamannaah Bhatia, Vijay Varma, Tillotama Shome, Amruta Subhash, Neena Gupta, Angad Bedi, and Mrunal Thakur.The other directors involved are Konkona Sensharma, R Balki, and Sujoy Ghosh.

Lust Stories 2 will be available for streaming on Netflix India starting June 29.
