J&K govt orders magisterial probe into Hyderpora encounter

Srinagar : , Thursday, November 18th : The Jammu and Kashmir government ordered a magisterial investigation into the encounter Monday at Hyderpora where four people died.

“Govt will immediately take appropriate action if the report has been submitted within a specified time.

JK administration reiterates its commitment to protecting innocent civilians’ lives & will make sure there is no injustice.”

This encounter resulted in the deaths of four people: a foreign militant and his associate Altaf Ahmad (owner of the building), Dr Mudasir Gil, who ran a call center on a rented floor in the building, as well as Dr Mudasir Guul.

All four victims were buried at north Kashmir Handwara Tehsil.This includes the civilians who were not given to their families.

Three former Chief Ministers Dr Farooq Abdullah (Omar Abdullah) and Mehbooba Mutti (Sajad Lone Of Peoples Conference), Yusuf Tarigami, CPI-M, have called for an independent investigation into this incident.

The police detained and expelled the Altaf and Mudassir Gul families who had been participating in a sit-in demonstration on Wednesday night.

Families insist that Altaf Ahmad, Mudassir Guul were not involved in militancy.They demand that their remains be returned.

On Tuesday, Vijay Kumar, Inspector General of Police stated in a press conference the death of Altaf Ahmad (the house owner) and an overground militant worker Mudassir Guul.According to him, the house owner died in crossfire, while Gul was living in the same building as Haider, a foreign terrorist Haider, and an associate.
