Iran Urges Us To Prove Reliability To Rejoin Iranian Nuclear Deal

Iran insists on US to show their reliability to join Iranian nuclear agreement

Tehran 13th September : The United States, in order to be a part of the Iranian nuclear agreement must show that it is reliable and demonstrate that it respects international norms, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nassar Kanaani told reporters.
“The country that unilaterally retracted from the agreement that was signed in 2015, has impeded the implementation of an agreement that is based on shared interest .has implemented illegal, unilateral and unreasonable sanctions (on Iran), and is not entitled to claim a claim and pose as a creditor,” Nassar Kanaani told reporters at his press conference every Monday.

“The US government needs to adopt a positive approach to coming to an agreement,” he noted.

In its most recent reaction to EU’s suggestion for a re-instatement of the 2015 nuclear deal officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Iran has not brought up any new issues or “any serious demands” that could hinder the success of an accord, Kanaani said, calling the Western parties’ pressures in response to Iran’s reaction as “psychological conflict”.

The recent declaration of the European troika of France, Germany and Britain regarding Iran’s response to an EU nuclear plan was “wrong” and “untimely,” Kanaani added.

On the weekend, France, Germany and Britain declared in an unison declaration that Iran “has decided not to capitalize on this crucial diplomatic opportunity” provided by the recent European Union-drafted “final set of texts” to save the JCPOA and expressed their “serious doubts about the intentions of Iran and their commitment to a positive outcome of the JCPOA”.

“An accord is a two-way process and the expectation was that negotiations would take a positive approach in the direction of this,” the Iranian spokesman said.

It is regrettable that the European troika instead of reacting positively to the “constructive” actions of Iran in the process of concluding an agreement as well as cooperating with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is being affected by a country which is not a part of any safeguards system of the IAEA, Kanaani added, in reference to Israel’s accusations against Iran’s nuclear program.

Kanaani called on the IAEA to carry out its obligations with professionalism and to avoid the repercussions of pressures from outside parties, in particular from Israel, Xinhua news agency reported.

Iran agreed to sign the JCPOA with major powers around the world in July of 2015, and agreed to limit its nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of sanctions against the country. However the then US president Donald Trump pulled Washington out of the agreement and imposed unilateral sanctions against Tehran and prompted the latter to abandon some of its obligations in the pact.

The JCPOA’s talks on its renewal started in April 2021 in Vienna but were halted in March 2022 due to of disagreements over politics between Tehran and Washington. The most recent meeting of talks on nuclear issues took place in the Austrian capital in early August following the absence of five months.

On August 8th on the 8th of August, the EU released its final version of the proposed decision to revive the JCPOA.Iran as well as the United States later indirectly exchanged opinions about the EU proposal.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Friday that Iran’s latest reaction has put the negotiations one step back.
