Srivastav is 59 and is “critical and is on a ventilator”.

“If anyone over the age of 50 is beginning to exercise and is getting into the habit of doing so, it might be recommended to be examined by a cardiologist or perform the stress test.” explained Dr.Tilak Suvarna Senior Interventional Cardiologist Asian Heart Institute, Mumbai.

“Avoid doing too much exercise.Moderate exercise is enough to lower your chance of having a heart attack,” he said, adding that exercise should be stopped immediately in the event that you “gets signs of chest pain, breathlessness of breath or lightheadedness when exercising.

“One must also drink plenty of water and stay away from going to the gym with an empty stomach,” he advised.

Although obesity, sedentary habits and old age are typically the main causes for heart diseases, health experts suggest increased exercise and stress levels, as well as Covid which increase the risk.

Post Covid heart attacks are on the rise, particularly in celebrities who are often portrayed as healthy and fit.”Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai” actor Deepesh Bhan (41), Marathi actor Pradeep Patwardhan (65), singer K.K.(53), Kannada superstar Puneeth Rajkumar (46), “Balika Vadhu” actor Sidharth Shukla (40 ).the list of celebrities who have lost their lives due to heart attacks is lengthy.

“Post-Covid There has been an increase in cases of cardiac arrest or heart attacks among those who exercise in gyms.

People who are young and middle-aged are at risk the most because they’re more likely to become victims in these cases,” said Dr Ashish Agarwal, HOD Cardiology, Aakash healthcare.

“Going to the gym doesn’t mean that your body is in good condition.

A lot of fitness-minded people, regardless of age, are using synthetic proteins or steroids which are not safe in any way. Also engaging in an intense workout or doing too intense physical activity too fast can cause heart damage particularly in those who are new or over 40.” he added.

Agarwal advised those with hypertension or high cholesterol, as well as diabetes to see a cardiologist prior to starting gym training.

“Heart attack” cases were on the rise before Covid became a reality. But, it’s an important risk factor since it increases the chance of blood clot formation in those suffering from Covid.

But, the individual case might be different,” he noted.
