Hacker snatchs $185K from actor Bill Murray’s NFT auction

San Francisco, Sep 5 : A hacker has stolen $185,000 from Hollywood actor Bill Murray’s digital wallet after he was successful in completing the auction for charity of tokens that are not fungible (NFTs).
CoinDesk reports that shortly after Murray’s NFT action, which raised 119.2 Ethereum (around $185,000) to benefit charity was closed after which a hacker took the money from his wallet.

The hacker transferred the funds stolen to a wallet address that was linked to the cryptocurrency exchange Binance and Unionchain.ai Murray’s team.

“The unknown person also tried to steal non-fungible tokens from the personal collection of the actor” According to the report.

The hacker also attempted to take away 800 NFTs from the Murray collection.

Murray’s wallet security group immediately began to work and stopped hackers from destroying the entire wallet’s contents.

Murray’s team filed an official police report and has been working with the crypto analytics company Chainalysis to locate the hacker, according to the report states.

In April, cybercriminals hacked the Instagram account of Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT collection, stealing three million dollars worth of crypto.

In the course of this year, the world’s most renowned NFT marketplace OpenSea confirmed that it was hit by a phishing attack .at least 32 users lost their precious NFTs that were worth $1.7 million.

The hack occurred as OpenSea announced the release of a new smart contract with one week to remove inactive NFTs from the platform.
