New Delhi 26 December : .Former India fast bowler S Sreesanth was included in the preliminary Kerala squad for the Ranji season.
After a nearly nine-year gap, the 38-year old is returning to red-ball cricket.Sreesanth played his last first-class match against Mumbai in 2013, when he participated in the Irani Cup For the Rest of India.The veteran pacer, who was suspended for seven years for his involvement in the IPL spot-fixing scheme in 2013, felt elated to be allowed into the Kerala preliminary squad.
Sreesanth tweeted the information on Sunday.He said, “Feels great being back after nine years playing Ranji Trophy for my beautiful state, really grateful to all of you, lots and love and respect.”
Sreesanth, along with Ajit Chavan and Ankitchavan were allegedly implicated in IPL spot-fixing.Sreesanth, who was charged with spot-fixing in the seventh IPL season, was released on bail due to the lack of evidence.His ban was lifted on September 13, 2020.
Sachin Baby, the Kerala team’s captain in Ranji Trophy will take charge of this season.Vishnu Vinod, wicketkeeper and batsman for Kerala will serve as Sachin’s assistant.
Sanju Samson was the Kerala captain in Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali one-day competitions.However, Kerala lost in the quarterfinals.
Robin Uthappa is still recovering from injury and has been excluded from the list.Varun Nayanar, the second stumper is Mohammad Azharuddeen.
From December 30, the preliminary camp will take place in Wayanad.
Along with Bengal and Vidarbha as well Haryana, Haryana, Haryana, Tripura, Kerala is included in Elite Group B.
