Tirupathi Court on Thursday delivered its judgment in Alipiri bomb attacks case on the then CM Chandrababu Naidu.Court after completing its hearing convicted three persons Ramohan Reddy, Narsimha Reddy and Chandra
The incident was happened in 2003, when Chandrababu Naidu was going to Tirumala temple and ever since the case has been continuing till today.
The special investigating agency ‘SIT constituted to handle this case has interrogated total 96 witnesses and filed cases against 33 persons out of 29 are Maoists.The court convicted Rammohan Reddy, Narasimha Reddy and Kesav for four years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs 500.
The blast was happened when Naidu was on his way to Tirumala to present Pattu vasthrams as a part of the then Brahmotsvam festival at Tirumala on October 1st, 2003.The impact of the blast was such that Mr.Naidu’s bullet-proof car was hurled in the air.The explosion left a huge crater on the road.
The others in the car, the Puttur MLA, R.Rajasekhara Reddy, and the Tirupati MLA, Chadalavada Krishnamurthy, were seriously injured, while the Information Technology Minister, B.Gopalakrishna Reddy, suffered a shoulder fracture.The driver, Srinivasa Raju, was also badly injured.
The key accused and top Maoist leader, Patel Sudhakar Reddy, was killed in an encounter.Another key accused Maoist hit man Takkelapalli Vasudeva Rao alias Ashanna is still absconding.
