New Delhi, Aug 24 : Facebook users globally on Wednesday were left in stupor and shock when celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Nirvana, and The Beatles filled their main feeds with endless posts with images, videos, and memes.The company later claimed it was a glitch and corrected the issue.Many Facebook users also experienced an outage with Facebook according to the platform for detecting outages DownDetector.
“It’s chaos out there, folks,” posted a user on Twitter who was bombarded with celebrities’ posts.
Some users have sent memes to celebrities who had allegedly have posted to their feeds.
The Beatles appear to have sent a photo of the turkey sandwich with the caption “If you see this , please share it with a celebrity’s Facebook page and keep the turkey sandwich going”.
Some users profited of this situation, threatening PayPal donations links, or even promoting cryptocurrency projects, according to The Verge.
Facebook announced in an announcement that they were aware certain users were seeing bizarre posts in their feeds.
“We’re aware that some users have issues with their feeds on Facebook.We’re trying to get things back to normal as soon as we can, and we’re sorry for any inconvenience caused,” an Meta spokesperson said.
A user commented: “Is anyone else’s facebook feed completely ruined right now and only showing a plethora of spam comments on Facebook pages?”
