Disney is working on a live-action remake of the popular animated film, Moana.The original movie tells the story of a Polynesian princess who sets out on a mission to find the demigod Maui and reunite a sacred object with the goddess Te Fiti.
The remake will feature Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as Maui and will be produced by Seven Bucks Productions, which is owned by Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia, in association with Flynn Picture Co, which is owned by Beau Flynn.
The original Moana film was released in 2016 and was highly successful both commercially and critically.
It received two Oscar nominations and won several awards.The movie was directed by John Musker and Ron Clements and starred Auli’i Cravalho as Moana.
In an announcement video shot in Hawaii, Dwayne Johnson confirmed that the live-action version is currently in its early stages of development.The actor also revealed that he is excited to return to the world of Moana and that the story holds a special place in his heart.Johnson’s late grandfather, High Chief Peter Maivia, inspired the Maui character in the original movie.The actor is proud of his Polynesian culture and is honoured to bring the story of Moana to the big screen in live-action format.
Disney has not yet announced who will play Moana in the live-action remake.However, fans of the original movie are excited to see who will take on the iconic role.The remake is expected to feature the same storyline as the animated version, with some updates and changes to suit the live-action format.
